时，谓语动词用复数。例如：

　　A　number of foreign friends like Chinese food.

　　很多外国朋友喜欢中国菜肴。

　　The　number of students is increasing.

　　学生的数量在增加。

　　3. 两个作主语的名词或代词由"either…or"，"neither…nor"连接时，谓语动词应该和后一个名词或代词的人称和数一致。(就近原则)如：

　　Either she or I am going to fetch some chalks.

　　不是她，就是我去拿些粉笔。

　　Nether the students nor the teacher knows anything about it.

　　学生们和老师都不知道这件事。

　　4. 在主语和谓语之间插入短语together with，a long with，with，as well as ，except，but 时，谓语动词不受插入语的影响，仍和主语(第一个主语)在人称和数量上保持一致。如：

　　He as well as his brother is a Party member.

　　他和他的兄弟都是党员。
